Buon giorno a tutti. Thank you for being here this morning.

Carla and I are excited to arrive in Rome. It is an honor and a privilege for me to be the Ambassador-designate of the United States of America to both the Italian Republic and the Republic of San Marino. I want to forge the strongest possible ties between our countries and celebrate the centuries-old bonds that unite our peoples.
Eighteen million Americans claim Italian heritage. President Lincoln was an honorary citizen of San Marino.
The economic, security, and cultural ties between our nations benefit the people of Italy, the people of San Marino, and the people of the United States.
I look forward to presenting my credentials to President Mattarella as the 39th U.S. Ambassador to the Italian Republic and we look forward to getting to know the people of Italy and San Marino.

Grazie.
