February 2 – 3, 2017
On Thursday and Friday February 2 and 3, Dr. Delia Pompa, a Senior Fellow for Educational Policy at the Washington based Migration Policy Institute, lectured in Milan and Vicenza on integration programs for students in the U.S. and Italy in a comparative approach. At Catholic University Dr. Pompa discussed the unique challenges that migrant students face and the effective policy solutions facilitating classroom integration. Later in the day, to an audience including teachers and civil society groups at Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli, she stressed the role of civil society, religious, and community groups in the integration process.
The following day, she participated in a series of programs and interviews in Vicenza, where she discussed the challenges faced by migrant children in the classroom. She noted that migrant students drop out percentage is more than double the rate of native European students.
