Consul General Ambassador Philip T. Reeker at the Barilla Plant in Pedrignano
October 6, 2016
Pedrignano, Parma
Amb. Philip T. Reeker visited the Barilla plant, located in Pedrignano, near Parma. The Pedrignano plant is the largest pasta plant in the world. Barilla was also the first foreign company to open a pasta plant in the United States. Paolo Barilla, Vice President of the Group, explained to the Consul General, that in 1998 Barilla had founded a plant in Ames, in Iowa.
Later in 2006, the Group built a second plant in Avon, New York state. In the same state, in Manhattan, Barilla owns also three very popular restaurants. In fact Americans are the second pasta consumers in the world, after the Italians! The company keeps investing for the future and – through the Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition – Barilla is very focused on issues such as environmental sustainability, healthy nutrition and climate change, with its challenging fall-outs on agriculture.
