Event: A demonstration by “Firenze Antifa” is expected to take place on Saturday, June 6, 2020 beginning at 3:00 pm and lasting until at or about 5:00pm. The march protesting Italian policies with regard to COVID-19 restrictions is expected to draw nearly 1,000 protestors. Marches are currently banned under public health rules, and police will be present to maintain calm and to enforce the Tuscany regional government’s decrees regarding face coverings and social distancing. This event is scheduled to end prior to the start of a separate unrelated demonstration event scheduled to take place at 7:30pm next to the U.S. Consulate General in Florence.
Location: Starting in the Piazza Della Repubblica in Florence, proceeding down Via Roma through several other streets until it arrives at the parking lot next to the U.S. Consulate General in Florence at the corner of Lungarno Vespucci and Via Curtatone.
Actions to Take:
- Monitor local media for updates.
- Avoid the area of the demonstration.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
