In cases of emergency such as those arising from death, hospitalization, illness, or arrest, U.S. citizens are urged to refer to the US Consulate General, Milan, however in many cases, the Consular Agent in Genova can act as a liaison between citizens and local officials. Citizens with lost or stolen passports must report to US Consulate General, Milan for a temporary replacement passport.

Passport and Citizenship Services
The Consular Agency in Genoa accepts all passport renewals and applications for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA) by appointment only. Applications for these services will be transmitted to the Consulate General in Milan for processing.
Passports and other documents will be either picked up at the consular agency – or – returned to you via courier. For detailed information on the documentation required for these services please consult the pages on U.S. Citizen services.
Notarial services are performed by appointment only. Please bring the documents to be notarized, and a proof of identity such as a passport or driver’s license. The fee is US$50 or the Euro equivalent for each notarization and seal. There is no fee to notarize U.S. Government documents.
You must arrange for your own witnesses, if necessary. The Consular Agency can only notarize signatures, and cannot vouch for the veracity of the content or the authenticity of a notarized document. Certain notarial services such as affidavits and sworn statements have limited availability.
U.S. Visa Services
The Consular Agency in Genoa does NOT provide U.S. visa services. Applicants for non-immigrant visas are directed to the Consulate General in Milan, and applicants for immigrant visas are directed to the Consulate General in Naples.
