Shared Values of Friendship and Service: Happy Thanksgiving from Naples!

November 24, 2019

Consul General Mary Avery, USG Marines and Consulate staff celebrated Thanksgiving preparing and serving lunch to 20 less fortunate people at San Giuseppe’s convent, Sisters of Charity. “This is a truly unique holiday. It is an opportunity to share the joy of a meal, and be grateful for all the happiness we have in our lives,” CG Avery said before the lunch. “It is also an opportunity to serve the community. Giving becomes an act of gratitude for what we received during the year. Thanksgiving unites all Americans, whatever their origin, their faith, or their ethnicity. It is a holiday that comes from a story of friendship between peoples, and brings a message of unity and brotherhood.” CG and Consulate staff shared the meal with the guests, who enjoyed the traditional Thanksgiving food prepared by the volunteers: turkey and stuffing, blue cranberry sauce, mashed and sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie.
