Statement from Ambassador Eisenberg

June 5, 2020

Yesterday the world watched in sorrow as the friends, family, and associates of George Floyd gathered in Minneapolis to commemorate his life.

Although our laws provide protections against racial discrimination, it is clear much work remains to be done.

The moment calls for us to renew our commitment to combating racism and intolerance and to promoting diversity, which enriches and strengthens our societies.

Although these challenges are difficult to address, free and open societies everywhere are always strengthened through the debates produced through our citizens exercising their right to free speech and to peaceably assemble.

I know America will emerge stronger and hope justice will be done.
