On May 10, U.S. Consul General Mary Ellen Countryman hosted over 50 U.S.-Italy exchange program alumni originally from southern Italy at her residence, underlining in her remarks that “the mutual understanding and collaboration that are the result of these exchanges are critical to peace, cooperation, and problem solving in today’s increasingly challenging and globalized world.”
Participants included professionals in the fields of media, law enforcement, business, culture, and politics from Naples and other southern regions including Sicily, Puglia and Basilicata. Alumni from the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), Fulbright, and other high school exchange programs used the #AlumniEventNaples to renew their contact with the Consulate and extend their networks.
